Empower – The Black Humanities Project is a student-led initiative at UEA aimed at inspiring young Black and minority ethnic students to study arts and humanities at university. It champions curriculum diversity, works to close the degree awarding gap, and provides school pupils with opportunities to engage with humanities subjects through a partnership with UEA Outreach.
Their events include:

  • Expose. Explore. Empower. – Expose. Explore. Empower. is an annual event for Year 9 Black and minority ethnic students, delivered by the Black Humanities Project at the Sainsbury Centre. Through interactive activities, students discover untold stories of Black and minority ethnic figures, explore the skills and career opportunities that come with an arts and humanities degree, and are inspired and empowered to make informed choices about their future.
